SOLO & INDRĖ – Senegalese griot Solo Cissokho and Lithuanian artist Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė meet each other for their first duo recording.

This is the first meeting of kora and kanklės, two instruments with a very similar sound but from two different traditional music cultures. The Senegalese and Lithuanian folk melodies intertwine with spontaneous improvisations to immerse you in a shimmering, light and soft flow of acoustic music.

The interlinked patterns of kora and kanklės weave their traditions into one capturing narrative. In their pure voices these musicians combine the playful power of the southern hemisphere of musical traditions with the melancholy and gentle peacefulness of the north, projecting their beautifully contrasting ancient stories into this constant embracing instrumental texture.

Senegalese musician Solo Cissokho plays kora, a string instrument from West Africa, and performs vocal parts. He is a griot – a special performer, storyteller and praise singer who transmits the African traditions and culture first hand through music.

Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė is a Lithuanian singer and kanklės ( Baltic psaltery) player. She harmoniously combines her native music roots with improvisations in different music styles and genres, maintaining and exploring traditional kanklės sound in various music projects. MORE INFO
